He married Esther Williams, the daughter of John & Priscilla Barnes Williams of Duplin County, North Carolina, 17 Mar. 1786. They had 8 children: Nancy Ann; Sara; Catherine, aka Catey & Kitty; Mary, aka Polly; James W.; Frances, aka Fanny; Elizabeth, aka Betsey; and Eleanor, aka Elender & Nellie. David died on 11 Feb. 1837 in Duplin County, North Carolina. The date of Esther's death is not known.
