Excerpt from Gleanings From Indian Classics We are very glad to say that our attempt to popularise Indian Classics has met with immense success. In the course of six months the first edition of our tales OF ind has been all sold. We have received encouragement from all sides. We, therefore, hasten to place a few more volumes of the Gleanings before our readers. But we must mention that we have to make some changes in our original plan of action. We have removed Sati and Srzhrisna from the Tales and placed them in their proper places in subsequent volumes. We have tried every means to make these volumes acceptable to our readers and we sincerely hope that our Heroines would meet the same kind req ception as was kindly vouchsafed to its predecessor.
