The Rathskeller structure was a one-story, box-like structure measuring approximately 180 by 120 feet in plan and 20 feet in height. A 2-foot-thick waffle slab supported on columns, about 30 feet on centers, formed the roof. The floor was a 2.5-foot-thick reinforced slab that formed a raft foundation for the structure. Outside walls of the building were 12 inches thick. Uniform loading tests were conducted on this structure to investigate the shear strength of an interior panel; Strength of column-to-slab connections at edge panels; strengthening of a slab due to arch action when a single panel is loaded; and, residual strength after initial failure under each of the above patterns of loading.
