My hot one-night-stand just became my professor… I don't do relationships, but when a gorgeous bartender presses her chest in my face on New Year's Eve, I take it as a sign that maybe I should bend my rules. I’ve been under so much pressure lately, between my agent and my soccer prospects and my abusive biological father trying to extort money I don’t even have. What better way to distract myself from the pressures of going pro than to get under a woman whose curves could make a Venus statue jealous? Fern is everything a man could ask for: unbearably sexy, brilliantly witty, and oh-so-responsive in bed. That unforgettable night was the best bad decision I've ever made. That is until she shows up as the TA in my math class. Suddenly, our forbidden connection could jeopardize both of our futures. When I am exposed for my secret relationship with Fern and threaten her academic career, I'll do anything to protect her—even if it means giving up everything I've worked for. To have a shot at happily ever after with the woman I love, I have to confront my painful past head-on and fight like hell to forge my own path. Can I break free from the shadows that haunt me and build a new life with Fern by my side? One thing's for sure - I've never wanted anything more.

A one-night stand prequel to Forging Glory, a second-chance sports romance from USA Today bestselling author Lainey Davis. I can't tear my eyes away from her. She's incredible, the best soccer midfielder I've ever seen. Raw passion on the field. A hundred percent my type, but a thousand percent a distraction I can't afford right now. I've dated other athletes before. We're all too focused on our game for anything meaningful off the field. And usually, I prefer it that way. But she's all muscle and grit, with fierce eyes that let me know she'd wreck my body. And I'd love every second. Our connection feels immediate. The desire is mutual, like nothing I've felt before. Then I make the mistake of a lifetime: I let her wreck my heart.

A major figure in the history of twentieth-century American radicalism, William Z. Foster (1881-1961) fought his way out of the slums of turn-of-the-century Philadelphia to become a professional revolutionary as well as a notorious and feared labor agitator. Drawing on private family papers, FBI files, and recently opened Russian archives, this first full-scale biography traces Foster's early life as a world traveler, railroad worker, seaman, hobo, union activist, and radical journalist, and also probes the origins and implications of his ill-fated career as a top-echelon Communist official and three-time presidential candidate. Even though Foster's long and eventful life ended in Moscow, where he was given a state funeral in Red Square, he was, as portrayed here, a thoroughly American radical. The book not only reveals the circumstances of Foster's poverty-stricken childhood in Philadelphia, but also vividly describes his work and travels in the American West. Also included are fascinating accounts of his early political career as a Socialist, "Wobbly," and anarcho-syndicalist, and of his activities as the architect of giant organizing campaigns by the American Federation of Labor, involving hundreds of thousands of workers in the meatpacking and steel industries. The author views Foster's influence in the American Communist movement from the perspective of the history of American labor and unionism, but he also offers a realistic assessment of Foster's career in light of factional intrigues at the highest levels of the Communist International. Animating this book is a twofold question: In what ways are adult and popular educators responding to various harsh economic, political, cultural and environmental conditions? In doing so, are they planting seeds of hope for and imaginings of alternative futures which can connect individuals and communities locally and globally to achieve economic, ecological and social justice? The book illustrates how transformative politics of solidarity often involve actors across vastly different backgrounds. Solidarity is therefore a political relationship that is forged through particular struggles situated in place and time across power differentials. The authors put popular education to work by describing and analysing their strategies and approaches. They do so using accessible language and engaging styles. Popular education is a medium for dreaming, for imagining other futures. It is also essential for countering the wilful spreading of fake news and propagation of ignorance. Pedagogies of solidarity are necessary to building connections amongst people at a time when competitive individualism and alienation are rampant. Forging solidarity with and amongst communities is a means towards that end, and, indeed, an end in itself. “Corporate mines and agribusiness poison the water we drink, the air we breathe and the food we eat. Together with their political proxies they destroy the earth and her peoples – too many are killed because of their military, economic, religious and information wars. How do we stand up for ourselves and the earth that nourishes us against this global system? Forging Solidarity shares inspiring stories that feed our deep connection and power.” – Pregs Govender: Author of Love and Courage: A Story of Insubordination “Forging Solidarity is a critical and timely collective intervention that ponders, prods, pokes, and plays in the most generative ways. In so doing, it invites us to continue deepening our engagements with questions of responsibility and justice in relation to education everywhere.” – Richa Nagar, author of Muddying the Waters: Co-authoring Feminisms across Scholarship and Activism “This book inspires people to realize that not fighting against socio-economic injustices is to side with oppressors.” – Ntombi Nyathi, Programme Director of Training for Transformation

I don’t do relationships. I do calculations—and Nicole Kennedy is a problem I can’t solve. When my family’s engineering firm sends me to investigate a sinkhole at her house, I swear I feel a tremor in the foundation of my world. She’s loud and crass and has no time for nonsense. She also seems to hate everything about me. Which is normally fine, because I hate everyone. But…I can’t stop thinking about her. I see her all the time, between the trench swallowing her yard and the corporate relay race our bosses insisted we both run. Somewhere between all the sprinting and the soil analysis, I find a tiny crack in her armor. Maybe she’ll cut me some slack? Maybe I’ll figure out what makes her tick.
