As a registered nurse for the last 28 years, my primary clinical expertise has been working in the pre-hospital environment as a flight nurse and a paramedic, as well as continuing to work in a variety of clinical areas which include the emergency department, pediatrics and endoscopy. There has been close coordination in the development of these guidelines by the Joint Trauma System, and the Defense Committees on Trauma.
