Energy: Money, Materials and Engineering focuses on the utilization and management of energy sources, taking into consideration the chemical processes and economic implications involved. Divided into eight parts with 47 chapters, the book features the literature of authors who have painstakingly conducted studies on the utilization, management, conversion, and the economics involved in the use of energy. These papers stress the contributions of chemical engineers and researchers in establishing the relationship of the development of energy sources, while at the same time minding their possible effects on the environment. In the conversion of energy, various processes are discussed. The book also touches the processes involved in the conservation of energy in various areas as well as in the industrial setting. Relative to this, various processes are discussed, including water electrolysis, the use of batteries in electricity supply system, coal gasification, and the use of turbines. The text also points out the evolution of hazardous materials because of the use of energy. The need to create programs to control their potential effects on the environment and health is stressed. The book is a valuable source of information for those involved in thermodynamics.

Applied Chemical Engineering Thermodynamics provides the undergraduate and graduate student of chemical engineering with the basic knowledge, the methodology and the references he needs to apply it in industrial practice. Thus, in addition to the classical topics of the laws of thermodynamics, pure component and mixture thermodynamic properties as well as phase and chemical equilibria the reader will find: - history of thermodynamics - energy conservation - internmolecular forces and molecular thermodynamics - cubic equations of state - statistical mechanics. A great number of calculated problems with solutions and an appendix with numerous tables of numbers of practical importance are extremely helpful for applied calculations. The computer programs on the included disk help the student to become familiar with the typical methods used in industry for volumetric and vapor-liquid equilibria calculations.

There are many text books about engineering design and some include project evaluation techniques. There are text books on accounting methods and yet others on business management. This book does not aim to replace these specialized texts but brings together the elements of these subjects that young engineers working in industry – particularly the construction industry and its customers – need to understand. Most engineers learn about money the hard way: by experience in the workplace. The authors having done this themselves recognized the gap in engineers’ education and set out to bridge it. This book is based on a 1996 course George Solt pioneered for final-year engineering undergraduates. The book is written in an approachable style and gives young engineers as well as mature engineers an insight into the way engineering businesses run, the importance of capital and the problems of cash flow.

About CounsellingGuru CounsellingGuru is a comprehensive guide for all the Engineering aspirants of Tamilnadu. This book is aimed at providing complete information about engineering studies and statistical analysis on Tamilnadu Engineering Admissions [TNEA] counselling. It gives an insight to the reader about various branches of study in engineering and helps in selecting suitable branch of study based on one’s personal preference and performance in final school year. Why CounsellingGuru? In the recent years, the interest towards engineering has increased among student community in Tamilnadu. Also in the last 13 years, the number of engineering colleges has increased approximately from 200 to 520+. In this scenario finding information about all the colleges and selecting the right branch in right college has become a tough task for any engineering aspirant. It is not easy, to come up with a right decision for one’s career, based on the vast amount of information available in the internet and through other sources. One of the strongest motivations for writing this book is to provide complete information about different engineering branches, colleges, and the counselling process followed in Tamilnadu Engineering Admissions. Analyzing the information about previous year counsellings, helps a student to take an informed decision about the suitable branch and college for his/her rank. Based on the counselling trend from the year 2007 to till date, this book is aimed at addressing the basic questions like 1. For one's TNEA rank, which is the best college and course? 2. What are the top colleges for a particular branch? 3. What does one learn in a particular Engineering branch? 4. Which branch & college was selected by a candidate with the same TNEA rank during the last few years? Counselling Guru will definitely help every engineering aspirant to take right decision for their career. What is inside?Engineering Branches - Overview, Scope of each branches, who can opt each branch, etc.List of all Engineering Colleges in Tamilnadu - Coming under Anna University CounsellingTop Engineering Colleges - Overall (Top 100) and Branch-wise (Top 50) priority list TNEA Historic data analysis from TNEA 2007 onwardCounselling Worksheet for TNEATips for choosing payment seatsGuidelines for students and parents appearing for Engineering counselling The guidelines given in this book are developed by authors based on their rich experience in academics and engineering industry. Throughout the world many projects have been underway to investigate the conversion of renewable biomass into energy and synthetic fuels by thermo chemical methods such as combustion, pyrolysis, gasification and lique faction. While many of these represent prior art used during the early 20th century, the recent decade since the 1970s oil shock has immeasurably increased the knowledge base for such processes. Much of the new knowledge has been gained by persons who were not trained in classical wood chemistry and there have not yet been many attempts to synthesize the knowledge into a corpus of systematic information. To bring this about the International Energy Agency's Forestry Energy collaboration, the Gas Research Institute, the National Research Council of Canada and the US Department of Energy jointly sponsored a conference on the Fundamentals of Thermochemical Biomass Conversion in Estes Park, Colorado which was held on October 18-22, 1982. The Conference, which was structured around invited plenary papers and contributions from researchers, served as the basis for the papers in this volume which reflect the substantial conclusions of the Conference. During the planning for the Conference, it was realized by the editors in their capacity as Co-chairmen that a major problem in biomass research was the lack of reproducibility between reported experiments and their inter comparison on account of the heterogeneity of biomass materials. Economic activity of humankind is considered in the book through the prism of fundamental physical concepts of Irreversible Thermodynamics. In the frame of such an approach the Economy appears as an immense global system, which performs work, necessary for functioning human societies, at the expense of dissipation of energy, both biological, provided with food, and technological, used for industrial and everyday needs. Money plays a fundamental role of virtual energy specific for economic processes, that makes possible mutual coupling of energy flows distinct in their nature. The author applies the concept of entropy of money and shows that it depends upon the degree of concentration of money. In turn entropy of money is shown to define attainable level of capability of money to perform work. An ambivalent role of inequality in income distribution in a society as a natural consequence of economic activity of humans and as a factor of its motivation is analyzed. Representing economy as a system driven by energy flows the author touches some conjugated global problems caused by developing economic activity of humankind, such as ecological ones. The considerations concerning the distinction between exogenous and endogenous energy as well as between heat-associated and substance-associated entropy seem to be very important.
