James Elliott (1773-1865) was the son of Daniel & Elizabeth Elliott of Chester Co., SC. He married (1) Elizabeth Wilson (1785-1824) and (2) Nancy Reid (d.1835). He was the father of six children. His son James McKinney Elliott (1809-1896) married (1) Elizabeth Catherine Buchanan (1816-1849) and (2) Margaret Ann Black (1824-1907). His son Henry Laurens Elliott (1816-1897) married (1) Mary Millican McMaster (1824-1853) and (2) Tirzah Christine Ketchin (1833-1917). He was the father of fourteen children. Several generations of descendants are given.

James Elliott (1775-1836) married Jane Lee (1788-1860). According to Elliott family records, James and Jane were of Irish descent. They lived in Washington County, PA. Later they relocated to Knox County. Ohio. Their son, John (b.1822) married Sallie Dudgeon before 1844. James and Jane are buried at Martinsburg, Knox County, Ohio. John and Sallie relocated to Bremer County, Iowa and settled in the Waverly area. Family members belonged to the Universalist faith. Six generations of descendants are given. Descendants live in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Oregon and elsewhere.

James Elliott, of Scotch-Irish lineage, was born in 1821 in Ireland, and married Margaret Valence in 1845 at Kilmarnock, Scotland. They immigrated to Canada in about 1853/54 and settled in Mechanic Settle- ment, New Brunswick. About 1874 they moved to Anagance Ridge, New Brunswick, where James Elliott died in 1904.
