So, it may be a surprise to all that they are one of the oldest locomotives of India, with the first being introduced in the 1920s. The Steam Locomotives were the pioneer locomotives in India and they helped the Railways reach to every part of the country. The steam locomotives have a very rich history, given the number of types used and the over century long operational usage.
