Excerpt from Educational Survey of Clayton and Taliaferro Counties Georgia, 1915 Clayton and Taliaferro, two of the older counties of the State, were selected next after Rabun for school surveys. Several reasons inclined us toward this: Both are small; the county-seat of each is well situated in many respects to serve as a central high school; both have as superintendents elderly gentlemen, veterans of the Sixties, and both have failed to keep pace with some of the more vigorous new counties, particularly with regard to modern education. Mr. Duggan, therefore, makes much the same recommendations to the school authorities of each. From information of my own, less accurate in detail, I feel sure that he is correct, both in regard to statements of facts and conclusions, and it will be a pleasure to meet with the educational authorities of both counties and to aid in putting these recommendations into effect, if they are received with favor.
