Each individual picture is a unique watercolour, lovingly created by the illustrator. The simple words are ideal as first words for children to read. Children will soon learn that pictures may be represented by text and learn to match the words and pictures. The rhyme on each page can be used to reinforce the letter sound and helps children to learn to recognise rhyming words. Children can be encouraged to sound out each letter and then include it in the accompanying rhyme/song. The syllables in each word are indicated by the dots beneath. Children may be encouraged to clap out the syllables in the words in order to help them to listen for the 'chunks' of sounds within them.
