Good morning everyone, and welcome to the Senate Committee on Appropriations. We are beginning our public witness hearings for the Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education and Related Agencies. This is the opening hearing on the fiscal 1995 budget for our subcommittee. Today, we will begin a series of hearings to hear testimony from 150 public witnesses. This year, the committee had requests from 263 individuals and public organizations to testify before the sub committee. Because of the limitations of time we could only sebed ule 150 individuals and organizations who wrote to us. I regret that we cannot hear everyone, but the committee has made it known to those who did not make the cutoff that we would be pleased to publish their statements in the hearing record.
