Echoes of a Prophet examines intertextual connections to Ezekiel found in John and in Second Temple literature. The Dead Sea Scrolls contain many allusions to a number of Ezekiel's oracles, while other Second Temple works refer to only a few of Ezekiel's oracles, and those only rarely. In each case, Manning examines the evidence for the presence of the allusions, studies the implied interpretational methods, and comments on the function of the allusion in advancing the author's ideas. He also analyzes John's allusions to Ezekiel: the good shepherd, the vine, the opened heavens, imagery from the "dry bones" vision, and water symbolism. He observes that John has a few unique tendencies: he alludes to all five of Ezekiel's "oracles of hope" and primarily uses that imagery to describe the giving of the Holy Spirit and new life through Jesus.

What do you believe about souls? There are many very different doctrines taught in the world today concerning souls that are believed to be in all humans. By most a soul is believed to be something that is wholly apart from the person a soul is in; that a soul is something that is that is believed to be complete in its self without the person; it will live after the person it is in is dead; it is believed that a soul will exist forever without the person; it will never be dead; therefore, a soul cannot be resurrected from the dead. It is believed that a soul must live someplace forever, and it will live either in Heaven or Hell even if there is no resurrection. The doctrine of unconditional immortality of a deathless soul being in a person, and that soul leaving that person at the death of the person makes it impossible for Christ to have give His life to save that soul from death; if a soul had immortality it would already have life and could never not have life; all Christ could do is give it a reward or punish it.

"Line Upon Line" contains the writings of Tommy Robbins, having been written over the past 17 years. While Tommy now sits at the throne of the Lamb singing a new song to perfection, it is the same song which he labored to sing in the writings which you now hold. The love that constrained him in his writing shows a profound insight in exposing the things of Christ and the peace of the believer found in Him. Expecting only those of his congregation to read his writing, he faithfully worked week-in and week-out to "lay precept upon precept; Line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little" (Isaiah 28:10) to comfort God's people, and to "cry unto her, that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned: for she hath received of the LORD's hand double for all her sins" (Isaiah 40:1).

In the Principles of the Doctrine of Christ, the author has provided a Study Guide and commentary to encourage the understanding of the foundational tenets of Hebrews 6: 1 & 2 and facilitate their role in the believer's life. The Study Guide looks to transcend differences and promote an applied theology perspective to the subject. The goal is not to solicit conformity to a specific denominational creed, but to chart the growth events ahead for new believers, and that have been obfuscated in many seasoned Christians. The overall purpose is to articulate a clearly delineated path for the individual to grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ. It is the first in a series designed to orient new converts to a fruitful walk in the Lord, so that they build their faith according to the pattern revealed in the Scriptures.
