My Mother had a snapshot of this shanty back in the late 1940s & the developed picture showed this SHADOW (of an angel or JESUS?) on it. No-one could explain how it got there! ONLY THE LORD KNOWS!!! I decided to use it on my Poem Book Covers. The negative to this is awesome! Thanks, Pat
The Harbingers of Spring is fiction and is a tale of hope set in the surroundings of the author's grandfather's farm in Brown County, Indiana, of memories from the first decades of his life, born of childhood loneliness, amid things he would do if he had the choice to get people to come and visit. This book follows decades of the development of a festival in the Sweetwater Creek valley. It is a presentation of equality and diversity that follows a girl and boy in their pursuit of forbidden love. It presents a global input into a microcosm while the harbingers of spring, from the constellations to the flowers to the wildlife, to annual happenings, mark the growth and education of the two main characters. This education is punctuated by the genetic development of a grand champion bull and a bloodline of prized cattle and the production of mules. A world court is depicted that hears cases of the lovelorn, annually, and gives opinions up to and including the provision of weddings. The book depicts the conversations of all introduced characters from wherever to the constants of the rural setting: the rules of bathing on the porch in a washtub and spitting on one's finger to entice the butterflies and making a bed of two pairs of pants for lovemaking. The story expands out of harsh fundamentalism, the ugliness of the gangs of Great Britain, the old assertion that behind every great fortune lies a crime (Balzac 1834), the drug cartels, and the systematic destruction in the prisoner of war camps. Love does triumph. The driving force of the girl protagonist is the belief that if you have been denied of your own dreams, you should do whatever you can to help others not be denied their dreams. The Harbingers of Spring is a retelling of stories made up by the author to maintain interest by his wife in fighting leukemia, born of desperation--an effort to entice her to want to hang on, just to hear one more story, and a plea for her to continue to live.
There Was a Great Woman is a book written about different women in the Bible, some of whom were obscure and others often read about and well-known. They all teach us practical lessons relevant to the present day. Every woman is unique in Gods eyes, and God has a plan and purpose for each of our lives. We are to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added unto us. This book was written to encourage women and help them realize that they are called by God to be used by God where they are. They can overcome and be more than conquerors through Christ who strengthens them. They can be the great women of God they are called to be.
Power can be either constructive or destructive. Many have habits, lifestyles, and toxic relationships that have and do prove themselves destructive. People also have many habits, lifestyles, and healthy relationships that have and do prove themselves constructive. Ideally, what we want is to remove all the destructive powers in our lives and incorporate the constructive powers. The Power of a Vision is about a necessary constructive power that we all need. 2 Peter 1:9, referring to people who are not doing the hard work it takes to grow in the Lord, says this creates a sight problem. But the sight problem is specific; it's not a problem with seeing things that are before you, but it says that these people are "blind and cannot see far off." We'll have much to say about this passage in 2 Peter 1 within these pages, but for now, consider the specific sight issue created. Furthermore, consider the problems this sight issue will create. We serve a god of revelation. God desires to remove the veil and reveal. If something is hidden, its existence can be questioned; but if it's revealed, one cannot deny its existence. What a constructive power to see what God has planned, to be fully persuaded by what you see. What you see influences your daily decisions. What you see influences the directions your lives go. It is the nature of any journey that if you travel the right direction, with enough miles, you will arrive at your desired destination. How many are miles and miles away from God's perfect plan, all because they have no vision? Hellen Keller, when asked about her blindness, said, "Worse than not having sight is to have sight but no vision."
Berg outlines the steps for forming a supper-swapping group and includes recipes, meal planning, and scheduling ideas that can help make mealtimes more fun and much more meaningful.
