Guidelines for students preparing for college admissions interviews are presented, including results of a survey of admissions directors. Questionnaire responses were obtained from all but three directors of 48 public and 52 private colleges and universities, including the Ivy League and highly competitive schools and each state's main state university. Enrollment at America's community colleges has exploded in recent years, with five times as many entering students today as in 1965. However, most community college students do not graduate; many earn no credits and may leave school with no more advantages in the labor market than if they had never attended.
