In the process of editing the writer has introduced from his records illustrative cases which were not presented in the clinic whenever by so doing it was possible better to emphasize the subject under consideration. It will be noted that nearly all the subjects dealt with are border-land subj ects, and should, therefore, interest the internist as well as the surgeon.
