This book is not a pure (auto)biography, rather a games collection. It consists mainly of interesting high-class games played by me, including many losses. Most of the games are preceded by accompanying texts, which vary from essays to tournament reports. The title of the book might seem presumptuous, but I wanted to show how I see or experience the competitions without denying the chess worlds of others. While the texts are mostly light and subjective, at the same time I tried hard to stick to the facts and provide some food for thought. GM David Navara May 2020.

Anand has been one of the world's top players for more than two decades, and cemented his place in the all-time hall of fame by winning the unified World Championship in 2007, and successfully defending his title against Kramnik and Topalov. But it's not just his results that make Anand special. His style of play leads to highly spectacular games, and his speed of thought is the stuff of legends. He is also a great explainer of ideas, as his annotations for this book demonstrate. Anand is renowned as 'Mr Nice Guy', popular with both the public and his fellow supergrandmasters. John Nunn, who collaborated with Anand on the original book, has annotated 30 games selected by Anand himself from the period 2001-2011. This new edition also features biographical information and a career record.

Admit it... You have just seen or heard about the TV series "The Queen's Gambit" and you are looking for a manual that will teach you how to play like a Grandmaster! YOU ARE NOT THE ONLY ONE... The fascinating and mystical game of chess is making a strong comeback in Italy and beyond. Millions of players around the world are about to immerse themselves in the world of chess after watching the Netflix TV series "The Queen's Gambit." Some, however, have simply rediscovered an old passion and want to pick up the chessboard left in the basement. But there is one key factor I want you to think about in this "chess game race" ... Think about it for a moment ... Why is it that only 5 percent of people can really understand all the secrets, various techniques and strategies of chess? The answer is very simple: because 95% of people are used to approaching the game in a superficial way, are unwilling to spend time learning the essence of the game, and believe -- no matter what -- that it is too complicated to understand and apply new openings and strategies while staying in their comfort zone. Don't get used to being part of that 95 percent.... If you really want to go all the way in this new world, distinguishing yourself from others, I have prepared a Handbook that teaches you step-by-step, from A to Z, all phases of the game (openings, mid-game and endgame). And not only that. In this Handbook you will be able to discover: - All the basic information you need to arrange your army on the board right away, such as the rules of the game, detailed explanation of the movements of each piece, how many points they are worth, etc. - The best opening strategies, not just the most popular ones, with high-definition images that visually help you on the movements to make on the chessboard. - 10 chessboard control strategies to lead the middle game on your side and dominate your opponent. - 10 secret strategies to manage the endgame and "checkmate" your opponent. - Practical tips for going from "beginner level" to "Grandmaster level." - How to understand and interpret your opponent's early signs of trouble and move to the attack phase. You see, many people say that "anyone can play chess": this is absolutely true; it is not a difficult game. However, if you don't want to be that "anyone" and have the ambition to be part of that 5 percent I mentioned instead, you must rely on those who have been passionately teaching this discipline for several years now! Gameplay does not involve random luck; consisting solely of strategy, (see also tactics, and theory). Chess is one of humanity's more popular games; it is has been described not only as a game, but also as both art and science. Chess is sometimes seen as an abstract wargame; as a "mental martial art".
