DOWNLOAD EBOOKExcerpt from Charter and by-Laws of the City of New Haven, June 1865 Confirmation of confer upon him and he shall receive such compensation for his services as said Court of Common Council may, from time to time, prescribe. Sec. 23. There shall be a Court of Common Council of said city, composed of the Mayor, Aldermen and Common Councilmen. A majority of the members of said Court of Common Council shall constitute, at any meeting of said Court, a quorum for the transaction of business. Any num ber of members less than a quorum, at any such meeting, shall have the power to adjourn such meeting to such time as they shall see fit, but shall not have power to transact any other business. All acts of the said Court, at any meeting, shall be done by a major vote of the members present at such meeting.
