DOWNLOAD EBOOKExcerpt from California Annual Livestock Report: Summary for 1959; Inventories January 1, 1960 California has long been one of the leading livestock slaughtering states of the Nation. The State ranked first in cattle slaughter during the years 1951-1957 and ranked a close second in 1958 and 1959. California has been the leading sheep and lamb slaughtering State for many years. The chart on the cover of this bulletin shows California livestock slaughter over the past 13 years converted to a dressed weight basis. An up ward trend is immediately apparent a trend that corresponds very closely to the population growth in California. During the past decade output of beef and veal has increased nearly 50 percent, and lamb and mutton production has expanded more than one-third. Pork production in California has been maintained at a rather stable level for the past several years. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
