DOWNLOAD EBOOKElectromagnetic Nondestructive Evaluation (ENDE) is the process of inducing electric currents, magnetic fields or both within a test object to assess its condition by observing the electromagnetic response. An important tool in fields as diverse as engineering, medicine and art, it does not permanently alter the object being tested, thus proving invaluable for product evaluation, troubleshooting and research. This book presents the proceedings of the 17th International Workshop on Electromagnetic Nondestructive Evaluation (ENDE), held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in July 2012. ENDE workshop is an important event for all scientists with interests in non-destructive testing. The first workshop took place in 1995 in London UK, and has been followed by workshops held in various parts of the world, but this is the first time this workshop series has come to a Latin American country. The workshops bring together scientists and engineers active in research, development and industrial applications of ENDE. The book is divided into five sections: advanced sensors; analytical and numerical modeling; systems and techniques for electromagnetic NDE; characterization of materials and NDE of cracks; and new developments and others. Each section includes papers on a variety of subjects. From the papers submitted for publication, thirty six peer reviewed articles have been accepted, six of which emanate from Latin American authors. The book will be of interest to all those wishing to keep abreast of developments in the field, or who rely on the advanced techniques based on electromagnetic principles applied to nondestructive evaluation in their work.

DOWNLOAD EBOOKThis handbook is a comprehensive source of information on all aspects of non-destructive testing (NDT), for use by professionals, educators, and most of all, by the practitioners of testing. The art of NDT consists of dozens of methods, some classical, and some emerging. As the pace of industrial work and discovery intensifies and materials are utilized to their physical limits, the role of NDT becomes ever more important. As a result, the methods of testing are themselves evolving, and it is the intent of this book to capture this evolution. Handbook of Modern Non-Destructive Testing broadens the scope from traditional books on the subject. In addition to classical, emerging and exotic methods of evaluation, the book will also cover the use of NDT techniques in other fields, such as archaeology or resource exploration. With contributions from experts in all areas of the field, the reader will find balanced coverage of a variety of testing methods, with no bias against or endorsements of any particular method. The book treats many areas in depth, covering all aspects of testing, and will include case studies where appropriate. Additional coverage of statistical methods and their use, as well as simulations‘ role in testing and test design, are included.

DOWNLOAD EBOOKThis book is a collection of papers that originated as a Special Issue, focused on some recent advances related to fiber Bragg grating-based sensors and systems. Conventionally, this book can be divided into three parts: intelligent systems, new types of sensors, and original interrogators. The intelligent systems presented include evaluation of strain transition properties between cast-in FBGs and cast aluminum during uniaxial straining, multi-point strain measurements on a containment vessel, damage detection methods based on long-gauge FBG for highway bridges, evaluation of a coupled sequential approach for rotorcraft landing simulation, wearable hand modules and real-time tracking algorithms for measuring finger joint angles of different hand sizes, and glaze icing detection of 110 kV composite insulators. New types of sensors are reflected in multi-addressed fiber Bragg structures for microwave–photonic sensor systems, its applications in load-sensing wheel hub bearings, and more complex influence in problems of generation of vortex optical beams based on chiral fiber-optic periodic structures. Original interrogators include research in optical designs with curved detectors for FBG interrogation monitors; demonstration of a filterless, multi-point, and temperature-independent FBG dynamical demodulator using pulse-width modulation; and dual wavelength differential detection of FBG sensors with a pulsed DFB laser.
