It is a diary of the 1980-81 School Year in Boerne, Texas written from the perspective of the assistant principal. As such it focuses on the trials and tribulations of the school disciplinarian whose job responsibilies included management of textbooks and corporal punishment. Hence the title, Books and Butts.
