One recent December, at age 53, John Kralik found his life at a terrible, frightening low: his small law firm was failing; he was struggling through a painful second divorce; he had grown distant from his two older children and was afraid he might lose contact with his young daughter; he was living in a tiny apartment where he froze in the winter and baked in the summer; he was 40 pounds overweight; his girlfriend had just broken up with him; and overall, his dearest life dreams--including hopes of upholding idealistic legal principles and of becoming a judge--seemed to have slipped beyond his reach. Then, during a desperate walk in the hills on New Year's Day, John was struck by the belief that his life might become at least tolerable if, instead of focusing on what he didn't have, he could find some way to be grateful for what he had. Inspired by a beautiful, simple note his ex-girlfriend had sent to thank him for his Christmas gift, John imagined that he might find a way to feel grateful by writing thank-you notes. To keep himself going, he set himself a goal--come what may--of writing 365 thank-you notes in the coming year. One by one, day after day, he began to handwrite thank yous--for gifts or kindnesses he'd received from loved ones and coworkers, from past business associates and current foes, from college friends and doctors and store clerks and handymen and neighbors, and anyone, really, absolutely anyone, who'd done him a good turn, however large or small. Immediately after he'd sent his very first notes, significant and surprising benefits began to come John's way--from financial gain to true friendship, from weight loss to inner peace. While John wrote his notes, the economy collapsed, the bank across the street from his office failed, but thank-you note by thank-you note, John's whole life turned around. 365 Thank Yous is a rare memoir: its touching, immediately accessible message--and benefits--come to readers from the plainspoken storytelling of an ordinary man. Kralik sets a believable, doable example of how to live a miraculously good life. To read 365 Thank Yous is to be changed.

Gratitude is, first and foremost, a way of seeing that alters our gaze. Gratitude is the simple, scientifically proven way to increase happiness and encourage greater joy, love, peace, and optimism into our lives. It's not just good medicine though, a nice sentiment, a warm fuzzy feeling, or a strategy or tactic for being happier or healthier. It is also the truest approach to life. We did not create or fashion ourselves, and we did not get to where we are in life by ourselves. Living gratefully begins with affirming the good and recognizing its sources. It is the understanding that life owes you nothing and all the good you have is a gift, accompanied by an awareness that nothing can be taken for granted. Featuring beautiful illustrations and simple exercises, this is the perfect little book to help you: - Practice gratitude - Improve your health and wellbeing - Enhance your relationships - Encourage healthy sleep - Heighten feelings of connectedness
In life, we tend to focus more on all the things that are not working for us instead of looking at all the things that have been working. All the blessings that are behind and in front of you. That's what a gratitude journal does. Each day you wake up you remind yourself of all the things that have been working in your life and throughout the day you are consciously counting your blessings. This allows you to focus on only positive influences, therefore impacting the law of attraction. Whether you think you can or you think you can't, you are right. When you focus on positive thoughts you will become aware of how good you are and how blessed you are to wake up daily. You will gain more self-confidence, extend yourself more to others, stop feeling sorry for yourself, be more courageous and have more faith in yourself. Throughout this journal I have incorporated the law of attraction and gratitude quotes that you can reflect on daily. I have also added a list of items that you can be thankful for. Spend at least 3 days each week reflecting on the things that you are grateful for. Add notes on the notes page. Make plans to change your life and watch your life change accordingly, Oprah Winfrey used the strategy and she is a millionaire.

The framework for this journal as a workbook as inspired by Tim Ferriss. This meditation journal may help you feel more present in your everyday life by using simple checks at the beginning and end of your day. These check-ins are repeatable and can help you create a new pattern of awareness in ways that are easy to apply. Sample Excerpt The day is split up into three parts: the beginning, middle, and end. The beginning of the day is about rising from slumber back into our skin. The way we start our day is how it continues until we decide to reflect on it. The middle of the day is running on autopilot from how we started the day. In the middle of the day, many events occur that can throw us off from what we want from our day. These distractions can be the smallest things: from spilling your hot coffee on your shirt on the way to work to being three-minute late for your bus that only comes every forty-five minutes. I like to call the middle of the day the struggle. The end of the day is time for reflection or to continue to run on autopilot from the struggle. During this time, we can ask ourselves questions about the day and see if we like the events that happened. This reflection is easier to do at home but can also be done by taking breaths when something goes wrong. Having a reflective moment during the middle of the day can help us get out of the struggle for some time until we trip again. The day can range from being exhausting to energizing; it all depends on how we feel our day. I believe it is important to keep myself in check when I wake up from rest and before I go rest.
