With detailed descriptions and schematics, this book reveals everything from the nature of frequency modulation and spectra effects of modulating signals in AM to bessel functions and the basic building blocks of AM and FM transmitters. A great practical reference for both hobbyists and technicians.
This book introduces Radio Frequency Modulation to a broad audience. The author blends theory and practice to bring readers up-to-date in key concepts, underlying principles and practical applications of wireless communications. The presentation is designed to be easily accessible, minimizing mathematics and maximizing visuals.
This essential text for any technician in broadcasting deals with all the most important digital television, sound radio and multimedia standards. The book provides an in-depth look at these subjects in terms of practical experience. In addition it contains chapters on the basics of technologies such as analog television, digital modulation, COFDM or mathematical transformations between time and frequency domains. The attention in each respective field under discussion is focused on aspects of measuring techniques and of measuring practice, in each case consolidating the knowledge imparted with numerous practical examples. Since the entire field of electrical communications technology is traversed in a wide arc, those who are students in this field are not excluded either.
The high level of technical detail included in standards specifications can make it difficult to find the correlation between the standard specifications and the theoretical results. This book aims to cover both of these elements to give accessible information and support to readers. It explains the current and future trends on communication theory and shows how these developments are implemented in contemporary wireless communication standards. Examining modulation, coding and multiple access techniques, the book is divided into two major sections to cover these functions. The two-stage approach first treats the basics of modulation and coding theory before highlighting how these concepts are defined and implemented in modern wireless communication systems. Part 1 is devoted to the presentation of main L1 procedures and methods including modulation, coding, channel equalization and multiple access techniques. In Part 2, the uses of these procedures and methods in the wide range of wireless communication standards including WLAN, WiMax, WCDMA, HSPA, LTE and cdma2000 are considered. An essential study of the implementation of modulation and coding techniques in modern standards of wireless communication Bridges the gap between the modulation coding theory and the wireless communications standards material Divided into two parts to systematically tackle the topic - the first part develops techniques which are then applied and tailored to real world systems in the second part Covers special aspects of coding theory and how these can be effectively applied to improve the performance of wireless communications systems
Since the invention of the transistor, there has been a great deal of activity and progress in semiconductor technology and understanding, particularly in new heterostructures and superlattices as well as devices based on them. With the development of high quality SiO2 on Si having low interface state densities, MOSFET devices relying on the high mobility two dimensional electron became available in the 1960s and represent the workhorse of integrated circuits today.
* The first single volume resource for researchers in the field who previously had to depend on separate papers and conference records to attain a working knowledge of the subject. * Brings together the field's diverse approaches into an integrated and comprehensive theory of PWM
This book provides a first introduction to the subject of telecommunications suit able for first and second year undergraduates following degree or similar courses in electronic engineering. There are very few specific prerequisites other than a general background in electric circuit principles and a level of mathematical maturity consistent with entry to engineering courses in British universities. The intention is to provide a broad perspective of modern telecommunication principles and applications. Following a general overview of telecommunications, a thorough, albeit introductory, treatment is provided of underlying principles such as signal representation and analysis, sampling, analogue and digital trans of several mission, modulation and coding. The book concludes with a description important systems applications which serve as case studies to illustrate further the principles introduced and demonstrate their application in a practical context. Many people have contributed, directly and indirectly, to this book. I am espe cially grateful to Professor Kel Fidler of the Open University for suggesting that I write the book and for the support and guidance he has provided throughout the endeavour. The Telecommunications Research Group of the Department of Elec trical Engineering Science at the University of Essex has provided a stimulating environment in which to develop my appreciation of telecommunication systems and in particular Professor Ken Cattermole has influenced my thinking greatly.
