DOWNLOAD EBOOKFault block inliers are hosts to a series of barite-fluorite vein occurrences on the east side of Lake Ainslie, Cape Breton Island. This report first reviews the general geology of the Lake Ainslie area and the geochemistry of local volcanic rocks. It then describes the barite-fluorite veins, their structural geology, and the structural geology of the vein systems. A simple model for fracture development in the area is presented. Results of fluid inclusion, stable isotope, and rare earth element studies are then described and discussed and a genetic model is postulated for the barite-fluorite veins. Finally, exploration criteria are outlined for other areas with possibly similar environments for barite-fluorite veins of the Lake Ainslie type.

DOWNLOAD EBOOKThis report details the geochemistry and mineralogy of barium, strontium and fluorine, and describes the geology of the 733 known Canadian occurrences of these elements. It suggests that Canadian resources of the three elements are sufficient for domestic requirements and that in the case of barium and strontium exports could be considered.
