Dealing with critical issues of ownership, control and use of water as a resource, AUSTRALIAN WATER LAW offers practical and up-to-date guidance in an increasingly important area. Interconnected with property law and environmental law, water poses special regulatory challenges because of its character and potential; it also poses opportunities for disputes and litigation. A complex web of state and federal legislation seeks to manage and protect water and water rights, challenging practitioners who are advising on matters like access rights, statutory water entitlements, water planning and resource protection. Commercially, water law affects a widening range of infrastructure development and management projects, while the development of a national water market offers opportunities in trading of water rights, and risks and controls. Kate Stoeckel, Romany Webb and Luke Woodward bring to bear their considerable legal experience in matters involving water rights as well as regulation of the water and sewerage industry and Amy Hankinson offers her significant expertise in environmental law and water management.

Ecclesial Futures publishes original research and theological reflection on the development and transformation of local Christian communities and the systems that support them as they join in the mission of God in the world. We understand local Christian communities broadly to include traditional “parish” churches and independent local churches, religious communities and congregations, new church plants, so-called “fresh expressions” of church, “emergent” churches, and “new monastic” communities. We are an international and ecumenical journal with an interdisciplinary understanding of our approach to theological research and reflection; the core disciplines being theology, missiology, and ecclesiology. Other social science and theological disciplines may be helpful in supporting the holistic nature of any research, e.g., anthropology and ethnography, sociology, statistical research, biblical studies, leadership studies, and adult learning. The journal fills an important reflective space between the academy and on-the-ground practice within the field of mission studies, ecclesiology, and the so-called “missional church.” This opportunity for engagement has emerged in the last twenty or so years from a turn to the local (and the local church) and, in the western world at least, from the demise of Christendom and a rapidly changing world—which also affects the church globally. The audience for the journal is truly global wherever the local church and the systems that support them exists. We expect to generate interest from readers in church judicatory bodies, theological seminaries, university theology departments, and in local churches from all God’s people and the leaders amongst them.

The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) requires States Parties to take all appropriate measures to implement the rights in the Convention. As we celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Convention?s adoption, focus has shifted onto the measures being taken at national level to give effect to children?s rights with specific reference to legal incorporation both direct and indirect. The way in which the CRC is given legal effect is highly contingent upon the constitutional and legal systems of individual countries and can best be understood by those writing from the specific national context. So this book combines individual contributions that address the experience of legal incorporation in selected countries by their national experts, with comparative analysis of the international landscape from the world?s leading authorities on legal implementation of the CRC. The jurisdictions covered in this book include Australia, Scotland, Norway, Ireland, Sweden, Iceland, Wales, Israel, New Zealand, South Africa, USA, Mexico and China.
