Records that comprise this series are articles of incorporation for the Immanuel Association of Lutheran Deaconesses of Omaha, Inc., constitutions and bylaws for the Diaconate of the Augustana Evangelical Lutheran Church, and a proposed constitution for Immanuel, Inc., the successor organization to the Immanuel Deaconess Institute. The records date from approximately 1951-1965. Several of the constitutions and bylaws for the Augustana diaconate are undated, but are retained in this series because over time various portions of the constitution were revised. The constitution and accompanying bylaws address the organization's objectives, membership, governance, leadership, the garb, and provisions for the sisters' ownership of property. Revisions occurred in 1953, 1960, and 1961. This series also includes reference copies of the IDI's constitutions adopted in 1954 and 1961.
