Excerpt from Annual Report of the Department of Education: For the Year Ending June 30, 1964 Pertinent statistics on education in Massachusetts for 1963-1964 are presented here. This report is reorganized into sections and tables for ease in finding and recognizing items of information and to provide for a more direct flow of data from source documents to publication here. The List of Tables shows that the data is presented in two sections according to whether it is fall or end of year information. Each section is further broken down into a series of tables of closely related information. Information in addition to that published in previous years is included to present more of the educational data collected by the Division of Research and Statistics. Definitions and Classifications are similar to those in other years except for financial data which is classified and defined according to Financial Accounting for the Public Schools in Massachusetts. To allow for greater conciseness in presentation, two major changes were made. Cities and towns are listed alphabetically and followed by regional school districts instead of the four groups of Cities and towns as given previous ly. Grade organization information is condensed into Elementary (grades 1 6 and 1 8) and Secondary (grades 7 12 and 9 12) instead of the various grade organization breakdowns of previous years.
