DOWNLOAD EBOOK"The fourth edition of Elements of Chemical Reaction Engineering is a completely revised version of the book. It combines authoritative coverage of the principles of chemical reaction engineering with an unsurpassed focus on critical thinking and creative problem solving, employing open-ended questions and stressing the Socratic method. Clear and organized, it integrates text, visuals, and computer simulations to help readers solve even the most challenging problems through reasoning, rather than by memorizing equations."--BOOK JACKET.

DOWNLOAD EBOOKNew Organic Architecture is a manifesto for building in a way that is both aesthetically pleasing and kinder to the environment. It illuminates key themes of organic architects, their sources of inspiration, the roots and concepts behind the style, and the environmental challenges to be met. The organic approach to architecture has an illustrious history, from Celtic design, Art Nouveau, Arts and Crafts, to the work of Antoni Gaud and Frank Lloyd Wright. Today there is a response to a new age of information and ecology; architects are seeking to change the relationship between buildings and the natural environment. In the first part of his book, David Pearson provides a history and assessment of organic architecture. The second part comprises statements from thirty architects from around the world whose work is based on natural or curvilinear forms rather than the straight-line geometrics of modernism. Each statement is accompanied by full-color illustrations of one or several of the architects' built projects.

DOWNLOAD EBOOKThis Proceedings Book collects the conference articles and abstracts presented at RICTA 2014, the 2nd Iberian Meeting on Aerosol Science and Technology (also named Reunión Ibérica de Ciencia y Tecnología de los Aerosoles), held during July 7-9, 2014, in Tarragona, Spain. RICTA 2014 is the second Portuguese-Spanish meeting on Aerosol Science and Technology. Like the previous RICTA congress held in 2013 in Évora, Portugal, RICTA 2014 is the continuation of the successful RECTA, Reunión Española de Ciencia y Tecnología de Aerosoles, conferences, which have been held in Spain since 2007. RICTA 2014 has been organized by the Droplets, intErfaces, and floWs (DEW) Research Laboratory of the Universitat Rovira i Virgili, with the collaboration of the Asociación Española de Ciencia y Tecnología de los Aerosoles (AECyTA). The congress was held at the Campus Catalunya of the Universitat Rovira i Virgili. As in previous editions of RICTA and RECTA, the participation of young researchers has been encouraged, with the organization of the 5th Summer School on Aerosol Science and Technology, as well as awards for the best poster and PhD thesis. This book comprises three parts: the Conference Program, the Conference Articles, and the Conference Abstracts.

DOWNLOAD EBOOKThis is a new, basic introduction to polymer science. It is both comprehensive and readable. The authors are leading educators in this field with extensive backgrounds in industrial and academic polymer research. The text starts with a description of the types of microstructures found in polymer materials. This provides an understanding of some of the key features of the various mechanisms of homopolymerization and copolymerization which are discussed in following chapters. Also discussed in these chapters are the kinetics and statistics of polymerization, with a separate chapter on the characterization of chain structure by spectroscopic methods. The next part of the text deals with chain conformation, structure and morphology, leading to a discussion of crystallization, melting and glass transition. The discussion then moves from solid state to solution properties where solution thermodynamics is introduced. This provides the basis for discussion of the measurement of molecular weight by various solution methods. The final chapter deals with mechanical and rheological properties which are discussed from a phenomenological continuum approach and then in terms of a fundamental molecular perspective. Altogether, this new text provides a comprehensive, readable introduction to and overview of polymer science. It is well illustrated with schematics prepared for this text to help in the understanding of key concepts. It will provide a basic understanding of today's polymer science for technical and engineering personnel not already familiar with the subject, and a convenient update and overview for materials scientists.
