DOWNLOAD EBOOKOn December 4, 1906, on Cornell University's campus, seven black men founded one of the greatest and most enduring organizations in American history. Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. has brought together and shaped such esteemed men as Martin Luther King Jr., Cornel West, Thurgood Marshall, Wes Moore, W. E. B. DuBois, Roland Martin, and Paul Robeson. "Born in the shadow of slavery and on the lap of disenfranchisement," Alpha Phi Alpha—like other black Greek-letter organizations—was founded to instill a spirit of high academic achievement and intellectualism, foster meaningful and lifelong ties, and racially uplift those brothers who would be initiated into its ranks. In Alpha Phi Alpha, Gregory S. Parks, Stefan M. Bradley, and other contributing authors analyze the fraternity and its members' fidelity to the founding precepts set forth in 1906. They discuss the identity established by the fraternity at its inception, the challenges of protecting the image and brand, and how the organization can identify and train future Alpha men to uphold the standards of an outstanding African American fraternity. Drawing on organizational identity theory and a diverse array of methodologies, the authors raise and answer questions that are relevant not only to Alpha Phi Alpha but to all black Greek-letter organizations.

DOWNLOAD EBOOKHenry: 'Are you ready for our engagement celebration, my love?' Daisy: 'Congratulations on the engagement! To my closest friend!' How could they send me messages as if nothing had happened after betraying me?! Clenching my teeth, the more I thought about it, the more ironic those two messages seemed. One from my chosen mate, my fiancé, and the other from my closest friend. How could they have sex on the day of my engagement? "Just a little while longer, and you will be engaged to your beloved Aurora. Aren't you excited?" Daisy asked Henry, panting as she spoke. Henry smiled, lifting one of her legs onto his shoulder and thrusting forcefully, causing Daisy to scream, "You know I've always loved you the most, Daisy." The thought of their conversation made me sick. I couldn't accept this, nor was I willing to let them off the hook. I recorded their scene on my phone and played it for all pack members at the engagement. Henry was filled with regret and agony, begging me to forgive him. But would he receive my forgiveness?

DOWNLOAD EBOOK‘Takes the Malayalam novel to new heights and fresh possibilities’ HINDU What makes us human? Twelve people accompany an anthropologist to a deserted island, cutting off all relations with the outside world. There, an experiment begins. They are not to use any known languages and must begin anew – to explore and find out if they can achieve in twenty-five years what humanity has achieved over generations. Twenty-five years later, only three of the thirteen have survived. As these three survivors recount their tale, what emerges is a story of humanity returned to its primitive roots, bereft of attachment, and not nearly as utopian as was expected. Award-winning writer T. D. Ramakrishnan’s debut novel, translated for the first time to English, explores through a powerfully imaginative conceit the meaning of relationships, attachments, love, hate and anger. Above all, it seeks to answer the question: what does it mean to be human?

DOWNLOAD EBOOK"(Lilley's) verse brings beauty to the almost-failed world it creates."--Rain Taxi "Lilley's power comes partly from his sound: syncopated, densely compacted, defiantly resigned."--The Believer Alpha--the beginning; the first letter of the military alphabet; the highest rank in a dominance hierarchy; being the most prominent, talented, or aggressive person in a group. Zulu--tribe; a member of the Negroid people of eastern South Africa; a Social Aid and Pleasure Club in New Orleans; an adjective to describe the language, customs, etc., of the Zulu people. Alpha Zulu is a venture into African American storytelling; it is a blurring of secular and sacred, the tavern and the church, the fall and the ascension of the individual, the beautiful and the terrible, and the humanity found in the twist of the street and the turn of the road. The people in the poems--the narrators and the subjects--tell the stories. The details and images locate each poem at the crossroad of ordinary people with extraordinary, edgy, and universal situations, and their responses are spiritual and streetwise. The lyricism of the line supplies a subtle blues and jazz as the underscore for a very particular community. Narrators and personas give perspectives of place and time, placing the poems fi rmly in the continuum of African culture in America. Gary Copeland Lilley is a native of Sandy Cross, North Carolina, and the beauty of the southern edge of The Great Dismal Swamp is what he calls his ancestral home. He is veteran of the US Navy Submarine Force and a longtime blues denizen of Washington, DC, and Chicago, Illinois. He is also an outsider artist and currently lives in Swannanoa, North Carolina.
