DOWNLOAD EBOOKThe travel memoir of Wagner, a German explorer and scientist, from 1850 to 1851. The first volume focuses mostly on describing the people of and political situation in the Caucuses, as well as the author's difficulties during travel. The second volume contains some of the human interest pieces (including descriptions of warfare and Catholic missions, the city of Tiflis, and so forth) but also has a significant portion dedicated to his work as a naturalist. Wagner describes the soil, forests, and the mountain landscape. The third volume, covering Wagner's time in Persia, focuses again on the people Wagner meets, and he comments more on women in this volume than the other two.
