Echoes in Time (90,000 words, 41 chapters, and epilogue) blends the themes of alien contact with the discovery of an asteroid in an orbit that will lead to a collision with earth. The "alien" culture, as the story develops, is not from some far-off star system, but the star-traveling descendants of an earth-born race of dinosaurs that evolved shortly before their own budding civilization was destroyed by an asteroid impact 65 million years ago. The ship bearing a member of the Kirraka, as these not-so-alien beings call themselves, lands in a remote area of Texas. When military units and aircraft move aggressively into the area surrounding the ship, they are attacked with powerful weapons from the alien ship (based on the assumption that star travelers wouldn't survive long without providing for their own protection against the spears and arrows of local savages) and the ship leaves with a powerful display of physical capabilities and disdain for the efforts to prevent their departure. A bizarre message is left at the landing spot that specifically names a person that the aliens wish to use as their sole contact, an obscure woman paleontologist and late Cretaceous period scholar, Edith Izzard. Contact with an advanced alien culture is viewed by Washington to have enormous economic and social consequences and importance. The resources of the federal government are turned to locating Edith and converting her to the governments "side" in dealings with the aliens. Edith is not easily convinced, or converted, to any side, especially as it becomes clear that if she does not cooperate she would forfeit her individual freedom and be coerced to do the government's will. When an asteroid is discovered heading for the earth, the importance of the technology available to an advanced culture seems crucial, and Edith's cooperation ever more essential in utilizing the power of the alien science to avoid global disaster. Edith retains her freedom, establishes contact with the alien, K. Word of the impending asteroid collision leaks to the population of the world, and chaos builds. The entire civilization can't be saved, but a compromise is worked out in partnership with the former residents of the planet.

This true story of an ex-Marine who fought crime as an undercover cop, a narcotics agent, and finally a federal prosecutor spans a decade of crime fighting and narrow escapes. Charlie Spillers dealt with a remarkable variety of career criminals, including heroin traffickers, safecrackers, burglars, auto thieves, and members of Mafia and Mexican drug smuggling operations. In this riveting tale, the author recounts fascinating experiences and the creative methods he used to succeed and survive in a difficult and sometimes extremely dangerous underworld life. As a young officer with the Baton Rouge Police Department, ex-Marine Charlie Spillers first went undercover to infiltrate criminal groups to gather intelligence. Working alone and often unarmed, he constantly attempted to walk the thin line between triumph and disaster. When on the hunt, his closest associates were safecrackers, prostitutes, and burglars. His abilities propelled him into years of undercover work inside drug trafficking rings. But the longer he worked, the greater the risks. His final and perhaps most significant action in Baton Rouge was leading a battle against corruption in the police department itself. After Baton Rouge, he joined the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics and for the next five years continued working undercover, from the Gulf Coast to Memphis; and from New Orleans to Houston, Texas. He capped off a unique career by becoming a federal prosecutor and the justice attaché for Iraq. In this book, he shares his most intriguing exploits and exciting undercover stings, putting readers in the middle of the action.

A New York Times Editors’ Choice: “A mind-bending romp through a gender-fluid, eighteenth century London . . . a joyous mash-up of literary genres shot through with queer theory and awash in sex, crime, and revolution.” NAMED ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS OF THE YEAR BY The New Yorker • HuffPost • Kirkus Reviews • Finalist for the Lambda Literary Award • Shortlisted for the Center for Fiction First Novel Prize • “A dazzling tale of queer romance and resistance.”—Time Jack Sheppard and Edgeworth Bess were the most notorious thieves, jailbreakers, and lovers of eighteenth-century London. Yet no one knows the true story; their confessions have never been found. Until now. Reeling from heartbreak, a scholar named Dr. Voth discovers a long-lost manuscript—a gender-defying exposé of Jack and Bess’s adventures. Is Confessions of the Fox an authentic autobiography or a hoax? As Dr. Voth is drawn deeper into Jack and Bess’s tale of underworld resistance and gender transformation, it becomes clear that their fates are intertwined—and only a miracle will save them all. Writing with the narrative mastery of Sarah Waters and the playful imagination of Nabokov, Jordy Rosenberg is an audacious storyteller of extraordinary talent. Praise for Confessions of the Fox “A cunning metafiction of vulpine versatility . . . an action-adventure tale with postmodern flourishes; an academic comedy spliced with period erotica; an intimate meditation on belonging.”—Katy Waldman, The New Yorker “Confessions of the Fox is so goddamned good. Reading it was like an out-of-body experience. I want to run through the streets screaming about it. It should be in the personal canon of every queer and non-cis person. Read it.”—Carmen Maria Machado, National Book Award finalist for Her Body and Other Parties “A hat tip to Moby-Dick . . . a running footnote hall of mirrors to rival Borges . . . one of the most trenchant calls for progressive action that I have read in a very long time.”—The New York Times Book Review “An ambitious work of metafiction, a sexy queer love story . . . a bold first novel.”—Entertainment Weekly
