In the dynamic realm of generative artificial Intelligence (AI), the fusion of human creativity and machine intelligence has created a vibrant ecosystem of collaborative artmaking. However, this transformative process brings forth a myriad of concerns, ranging from ethical considerations and the need for originality to navigating the legal complexities surrounding intellectual property. As more and more online communities appear around the use of AI to aid in the creation of images, there arises a pressing need for a comprehensive guide that not only dissects the intricacies of artmaking with generative AI tools but also offers practical solutions to the evolving dilemmas faced by artists, researchers, and technologists. Making Art With Generative AI Tools emerges as an exploration of the challenges posed by this intersection of human expression and artificial intelligence. Artists engaging with generative AI find themselves grappling with issues of authenticity, social toxicity, and the commercial viability of their creations. From avoiding stereotypical visuals to ensuring proper crediting, the realm of generative AI is rife with these complexities. Furthermore, the blurred lines between human and machine authorship necessitate a deeper exploration of how these innovative tools impact creativity, representation, and the very fabric of the art world.

Markov Decision Processes (MDPs) are widely popular in Artificial Intelligence for modeling sequential decision-making scenarios with probabilistic dynamics. They are the framework of choice when designing an intelligent agent that needs to act for long periods of time in an environment where its actions could have uncertain outcomes. MDPs are actively researched in two related subareas of AI, probabilistic planning and reinforcement learning. Probabilistic planning assumes known models for the agent's goals and domain dynamics, and focuses on determining how the agent should behave to achieve its objectives. On the other hand, reinforcement learning additionally learns these models based on the feedback the agent gets from the environment. This book provides a concise introduction to the use of MDPs for solving probabilistic planning problems, with an emphasis on the algorithmic perspective. It covers the whole spectrum of the field, from the basics to state-of-the-art optimal and approximation algorithms. We first describe the theoretical foundations of MDPs and the fundamental solution techniques for them. We then discuss modern optimal algorithms based on heuristic search and the use of structured representations. A major focus of the book is on the numerous approximation schemes for MDPs that have been developed in the AI literature. These include determinization-based approaches, sampling techniques, heuristic functions, dimensionality reduction, and hierarchical representations. Finally, we briefly introduce several extensions of the standard MDP classes that model and solve even more complex planning problems. The International Symposium on Experimental Robotics (ISER) is a series of bi-annual meetings which are organized in a rotating fashion around North America, Europe and Asia/Oceania. The goal of ISER is to provide a forum for research in robotics that focuses on novelty of theoretical contributions validated by experimental results. The meetings are conceived to bring together, in a small group setting, researchers from around the world who are in the forefront of experimental robotics research. This unique reference presents the latest advances across the various fields of robotics, with ideas that are not only conceived conceptually but also explored experimentally. It collects robotics contributions on the current developments and new directions in the field of experimental robotics, which are based on the papers presented at the 14th ISER held on June 15-18, 2014 in Marrakech and Essaouira, Morocco. This present fourteenth edition of Experimental Robotics edited by M. Ani Hsieh, Oussama Khatib, and Vijay Kumar offers a collection of a broad range of topics in field and human-ce ntered robotics.

Semantic Models in IoT and eHealth Applications explores the key role of semantic web modeling in eHealth technologies, including remote monitoring, mobile health, cloud data and biomedical ontologies. The book explores different challenges and issues through the lens of various case studies of healthcare systems currently adopting these technologies. Chapters introduce the concepts of semantic interoperability within a healthcare model setting and explore how semantic representation is key to classifying, analyzing and understanding the massive amounts of biomedical data being generated by connected medical devices. Continuous health monitoring is a strong solution which can provide eHealth services to a community through the use of IoT-based devices that collect sensor data for efficient health diagnosis, monitoring and treatment. All of this collected data needs to be represented in the form of ontologies which are considered the cornerstone of the Semantic Web for knowledge sharing, information integration and information extraction. - Presents comprehensive coverage of advances in the application of semantic web in the field of eHealth - Explores different challenges and issues through various case studies of healthcare systems that are adopting semantic web technologies - Covers applications across a range of eHealth technologies, including remote monitoring and mobile health
