This publication will document the fourth cycle review and appraisal of the implementation of the Madrid International Plan of Action and its Regional Implementation Strategy (MIPAA/RIS, 2002) in UNECE member States between 2017 and 2022. The regional review will conclude with the 5th UNECE Ministerial Conference on Ageing to be held in Rome, Italy, in May 2022 (tbc). The Conference Proceedings aim to support the work done by policy makers, researchers, and civil society by providing an overview of where we stand today and of the challenges that need attention.

The report's recommendations are anchored in the evidence comprehensive and forward-looking yet eminently practical. Throughout examples of experiences from different countries are used to illustrate how specific problems can be addressed through innovation solutions. Topics explored range from strategies to deliver comprehensive and person-centred services to older populations to policies that enable older people to live in comfort and safety to ways to correct the problems and injustices inherent in current systems for long-term care.
Intergenerational Relations - Contemporary Theories, Studies, and Policies, concentrates on actual discussions around various aspects of interactions that occur between people from different age groups and generations. The UN Decade of Healthy Ageing, 2021-2030 (the Decade) was endorsed by the 73rd World Health Assembly and proclaimed as a United Nations Decade by the General Assembly in December 2022. WHO and UN partners are required to report on progress in the Decade to WHA and UNGA in 2023, 2026 and 2029. Complementary to, and in support of these reports, WHO and UN partners have produced an additional external facing report in 2023, demonstrating progress made in the first two years of the Decade. The purpose of this report is to: assess the extent of progress made in the first phase of implementation of the UN Decade of Healthy Ageing, from 2021 to mid-2023; present contributions to the Decade being made by stakeholder groups, including Member States, UN agencies, civil society, academia, the private sector, community groups and older people themselves; and inspire and motivate stakeholders to collaborate in their continued efforts to implement the Decade at country level and scale up interventions to ensure healthy ageing.

The United Nations World Water Assessment Programme (WWAP) is hosted and led by UNESCO. WWAP brings together the work of 31 UN-Water Members as well as 37 Partners to publish the United Nations World Water Development Report (WWDR) series. Under the theme Water for Sustainable Development, the WWDR 2015 has been prepared as a contribution from UN-Water to the discussions surrounding the post-2015 framework for global sustainable development. Economic growth and the creation of wealth have cut global poverty rates, yet vulnerability, inequality, exclusion and violence have escalated within and across societies throughout the world. Unsustainable patterns of economic production and consumption promote global warming, environmental degradation and an upsurge in natural disasters. Moreover, while we have strengthened international human rights frameworks over the past several decades, implementing and protecting these norms remains a challenge.These changes signal the emergence of a new global context for learning that has vital implications for education. Rethinking the purpose of education and the organization of learning has never been more urgent. This book is inspired by a humanistic vision of education and development, based on respect for life and human dignity, equal rights, social justice, cultural diversity, international solidarity and shared responsibility for a sustainable future.
