The list of Athol Births, Marriages and Deaths comprised in this volume includes all that were found in the Town Books covering the period from the earliest date there recorded to the end of the year 1849. Some additions have been made from other sources, and these are indicated in each instance by proper reference. This book consists of a listing of over 3,500 births, 1,138 marriages (naming 2,276 individuals) and 1,470 deaths, for a total of 7,275 persons. Most of the marriage records show the man's full name and women's full (maiden) name. Some of the records show the people's place of residence, and some of the death records show cause of death and "Age at the time of death" so a birth year could be calculated. Paperback, (1910), repr. 2011, Self-Indexed, 230 pp.

Excerpt from Vital Records of Charlton, Massachusetts, to the End of the Year 1849 Marriages and intentions of marriage are printed under the names of both parties, but the full information concerning each person is given only under his or her name. An asterisk after a marriage indicates that the intention was not found recorded, and in many cases this is accounted for by the fact that neither party belonged in Charlton, and consequently publishment was made elsewhere. The double date is used in the months of January, February and March prior to 1752 only when it so appears in the original, and instances of the modern form after 172 5 are not uncommon. When places other than Charlton and Massachusetts are named in the original records, they are given in the printed copy. Excerpt from Vital Records of Amesbury, Massachusetts, to the End of the Year 1849 When places other than Amesbury and Massachusetts are named in the original records, they are given in the printed copy. Marriages and intentions of marriage are printed under the names of both parties. Double-dating is used in the months of January, February and March, prior to 17 5 2, whenever it appears in the original, and also, whenever from the sequence of entry in the original the date may be easily determined. In all records the original spelling of names is followed and in the alphabetical arrangement the various forms should be examined, as items about the same family may be found under different spellings. As Amesbury and Salisbury have been so closely connected, both socially and geographically, it will be desirable to examine the records of both towns when making researches. The town records covering the period from 1666 to 1686 are now missing. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
