This is a modified version of the book "The Early Days of Pinehurst". It is essentially the same except most chapters not related to the resort have been removed. One addition has been made. A chapter on the pre-history of the Cradle (short course) has been added. This chapter also contains surprising information about the spirit with which the game was played.
