Se analiza en qué medida el proceso de integración que están experimentando los países europeos ha podido afectar a su estructura productiva y a la distribución geográfica de la actividad industrial. Los resultados señalan que la especialización productiva de los países de la UE no ha experimentado grandes transformaciones desde finales de la década de los ochenta. Únicamente algunas economías pequeñas y, en particular, Irlanda, Finlandia y Suecia, han alterado de manera significativa su estructura productiva a lo largo de este período, orientándose hacia las industrias de mayor contenido tecnológico. Tampoco se aprecian grandes cambios en la distribución geográfica de la actividad industrial europea. El rasgo más destacable es la importancia creciente que están adquiriendo Irlanda, Finlandia y Suecia en la producción de las industrias más intensivas en tecnología, en detrimento de algunas economías centrales y, en especial, de Alemania.

The circular economy is a policy approach and business strategy that aims to improve resource productivity, promote sustainable consumption and production and reduce environmental impacts.
